Post 71: I miss the sunshine

I have only been home for 48 hours and I already miss the coast and the sunshine....

Looking at this pic I can still feel the ocean spray and smell the salty air...

Illinois already has that Fall chill in the air and it is a definite jeans and sweatshirt kind of day. I am sad winter is well on its way. I am not made for the cold. I only wish we would get a call to move to SC tomorrow...sigh.

Post 70: I'm Back!

So, I am finally back home. Alive and well despite the stress that my husband and the airlines put me through in the past 24 hours (my husbands ID expired while we were on vacation).
Anywho, it will probably be a couple of days until I get back into the swing of things. I have grocery shopping, ungodly amounts of laundry to do, and since my dog spent a week at the kennel I will have to remind him that he must relieve himself outside and not on the rug. bah. With that said here is a picture or two from South Carolina!

Magnolia Plantation: Once a rice plantation now it is all swampy and beautiful, annnnd the place where Swamp Thing was filmed haha! (oh, and home to giant killer mosquitoes)Unitarian cemetery: I was told that they believe once we die we return to nature that is why they let everything go natural in the cemetery. It looked beautiful and a bit creepy.Creepy crawlers (I was assured it could NOT bite me that's the only reason I was able to go through with was a few inches from head to butt)I have a bazillion pictures soooo I am sure you will see many more (whether you want to or not, hehe). Buuut I must get back to reality for now.

Post 68: Giveaway at Folk Craft!!

My lovely friend Leanne of Folk Craft is having another Giveaway! Just take a look at these Sweet Barrettes!

I say it is totally worth Entering! Aaaand, if I were YOU I would also take a look at her Etsy, Folk.

With that said I have 3 (yes 3!!) days until I am on the beautiful sandy beaches of South Carolina, I am so excited I cant hardly contain myself. That, or I have consumed entirely too much coffee this morning. But, probably a mix of the two. So, now I must use this energy to mow down my weed garden in the back yard before the neighbors start to complain...

Post 67: An excuse to go shopping...

I need to go shopping for vacation clothes (and whatnots) today...maybe not NEED but when I go on vacation I like to feel classy in my new pretty clothes other than my dingy over washed rags... hehe. Anyway, I am hoping I can find something like these lovely Etsy finds at the store (since obviously I have waited too long to actually order them from Etsy...)

Lovely grey tunic top...

Beautiful aqua bag to stash my 1,000 SPF sunblock....and other items redheads need for sun exposure...

Totally cute striped tank...
And some fancy vintage sunglasses in a fabulous shade of pink!
Noooow if I can only get the pup to take a nap so I can sneak out.....

And for a Dog Dork update: Gus is now not only clingy but ULTRA clingy where he must be in contact with me at all times and if he is playing I must be within 10 feet...otherwise he stresses out and he acts like the world is coming to an end. A trip to the bathroom usually leads to a puppy breakdown and I am afraid the neighbors assume the pup is mistreated...heh. I am hoping it blows over soon....

Post 66: Fantastic Weekend

I had an absolutely fantastic weekend! On Friday I went to a free (yes FREE) outdoor concert at the museum and listened to a wonderful blues/rock band from Detroit. It was a quite museum crowd but the music def wast quite...or museum like. I would say it was Allman Brothers meets ZZ Top so my husband was in heaven I only regret that I forgot my camera. The weather was splendid and the view of the sunset was spectacular.
Theeeen on Saturday we went to Springfield for the Illinois State Fair (my first) :).

I wish I could have gotten a better picture but i loved the look of this "ride" and it's bright colors against the sky :) I also thought these chairs were fantastic...

All of the fair buildings were old and beautiful. I wish I could have taken the time to get pictures of everything but I was with two men in search of farm equipment. haha. Buut I did get to see my first horse race...

We were on the wrong side but the workers told us we could go stand on the track and we is nerdy but it made me happy.

All in all it was an absolutely fantastic weekend so I had to share :D.

Post 65: Dresses! (Have a happy weekend!)

Dress number one is now complete!

The little pink flower pin makes me happy :D haha.

And this is Dress number two unfinished and pinned to the dress form.

Post 64: Let the countdown begin.

In 1 week I will be here.

(This image was found on Flickr)

I am so unbelievably excited to get out of Illinois for a bit and visit beautiful South Carolina. Where I will be sipping fruity drinks on sandy beaches, taking many (many, many, many) pictures of beautiful homes and light houses, and eating delicious sea food (NOT the kind I mentioned here).

.......I really hope people who live in areas like this do not take it for granted....

I am lucky enough that my husbands family is from the East coast so I get to spend most holidays near the beach. Sigh. The places you will move just to make money. Damn responsibility.

Post 63: midwest seafood y dress numero uno (peek)

So this is how i do seafood in the midwest....

I am a firm believer that all canned food is poison, but I indulged in some smoked (canned) oysters today and I had to capture the moment...

Aaaanywho the reason I am posting in the first place is to give you a peek at this incomplete dress I am working on (with my lovely NEW dressform!). It is a bit wrinkled and pinned to the dress form (and the bottom is not close to finished so i left it out sorta...). I have almost finished this one this evening but I don't have good light and truth be told I am far to lazy to take any more pictures at the moment.....

And this is a the top detail (with flash, yuck)...I will proooobably finish it up tomorrow and post more pics tomorrow night and hoooopefully it turns out beautiful...hopefully.

Post 62: Oooh meee.

Oooh me. So I have obviously been terrible keeping up with my "internetin'" the last week. I got my dress form Thursday afternoon and that is where all of my free time has been going. I love it. I have actually made a few dresses. None of them which are completely finished due to the fact i need to add zippers and buttons and such. I am hoping to be finished with them by the end of the week! Which looks pretty promising unless I get bored with one and decide to start up something else...hehe. Anyways with that said I am sorry I have been such a slacker!! Buuuut I should get some pics posted of my creations soon...very soon...maybe later today.

With that said here are some more lovely things I want from Etsy:

Now I must get back to work!

According to UPS my dress form should be arriving today....and I'm tired of waiting (even though I just purchased it on Saturday). Bah. Whyyyyy must I be so impatient?? It is bad. Real bad. I could not hardly sleep last night due to all of my excitement....a lot like Christmas...ha. I'm pitiful.
