Post 172: Oh My Peonies

My lovely flowers!
Peonies are my FAVORITE and they make my heart happy! The owners did a fantastic job with flowers around here. Every two weeks I get a new kind of flower blooming :D
Too bad they were not able to keep up with the vegetable garden...It is my project for next year!

Post 168: Rawr!

I really wish I would have taken some better pictures of this room. It would have been fantastic if I could have taken one with the original furniture. Supposedly, this fabric wall was designed by some great interior designer 40 years ago for the owners' son. (They used interior designers for EVERYTHING)
It is fancy fantastic! I have taken the fabric down (against my husbands wishes) but I did manage to salvage the fabric out of the deal. I WILL be using it for some fantastic handmade items once I get the time.

Post 167: I love this place.

It is such a beautiful morning, it makes my heart happy. Puppy Gus and I enjoyed our breakfast on the deck the morning watching the world go by. I am in love with this place.

Oh! I have to share what the husband and I saw out the bedroom window Monday morning. At first glimpse it scared the heck out of me.

I wish I would have caught him with his feathers still fanned out, he was beautiful!

Post 166: Bragging

So, I received a FANTASTIC little surprise package from my BFF Leanne in the mail last week!

I think this pincushion is SO adorable! It is so tiny!
A lovely bundle of fabric and lace. I already have plans to use it for some little bits for baby!Lastly, the most fantastical fortune teller/cootie catcher ever! It has me giggling to myself for quite awhile. :DAnd, Since I have been promising to share the house treasures with you here is the first of many. The old owners left us this gem. It is a record player/radio in SUPER condition. Not even a scratch (except some small scuffs along the bottom). It has two working tube speakers which sound better than any stereo I have ever heard. I only wish I could play MP3s or CDs on it hehe. I do have quite the record collection so i still have selection. But you really don't understand the quality of sound that comes out of this dinosaur! I love it. You must also take note of the groovy green shag carpet (covered in wall paper scraps). I will be sharing more about my trip to 1968 later! ;p

Post 165: I'm Back!

So we are moved in and busy doing 1 bazillion things. We finally got Internet yesterday and once I find my camera cable in one of these boxes I will have plenty to share!
It is fabulously 1968 in this house even down to the Green and gold flecked damask-ish wall paper to the working Nutone intercom system that my husband finds great joy in. I have been peeling wall paper for days and it is about time to start painting!
I will be fairly busy but I hope to start posting pictures of the treasures I come across in this little adventure!

Post 163: Moving

Moving day is growing near! My Mother-in-law arrives on Wednesday to 'help' and on Friday we move in to the dream home! Getting around this house has become nearly impossible with all of these boxes. It is a really weird feeling to see our little world packed away in a few bags and boxes. This house is starting to feel empty and much less like a home with each passing day but I cannot express how excited I am to move on. I only hope the next owners will enjoy it as much as we did!

Post 159: Paint Colors

I am having the HARDEST time deciding what colors to paint the walls in the new house. I have become so frustrated with it I have almost found myself resorting to white, and if you know me, you know white walls are generally never an option.

I will be moving in a little less than two weeks and I am making an effort to be organized so I can get my decorating and renovating done as quickly as possible, before this pregnancy completely consumes my brain. I am sure I have the nursery all figured out but everything else is beyond me. Dangit!

Post 152: Lookin' Out My Backdoor....soon

I hope everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day! I spent most of mine sleeping and eating cereal (thanks to Baby)...but I enjoyed lazing it up with my Adam. He was sweet and knows me well sooo for Valentine's Day he gave me homemade strawberry jam, homemade apple butter, and some fantastic yeast rolls. Ill take these over a box of chocolates or flowers any day! (since I buy both chocolate and flowers for myself on a fairly regular basis...hehe)

So, today I am taking care of more moving stuff. You know, home insurance, appraisals, all that 'fun stuff'. I cannot stop daydreaming of how fantastic this summer will be! Check out the view!
View from the deck. It faces west for some beautiful sunsets! We will have over 9 acres of this stuff and our land is surrounded by a nature preserve so I have tons of exploring to do!You can't see all the big beautiful windows since the deck is in the way but I will be getting better pictures once we move. I think this is going to be a FANTASTIC place for Adam and I to raise our future children, I can't wait!March 15th it is all ours! Oh, and the street name is Singing Woods. How great is that?

Post 150: Mid Century Inspiration

So, now that the house is soon to be allll MINE. I have been looking for inspiration. It is a late mid-century home and has TONS of big beautiful windows that look out to TONS and TONS of lovely trees and beautiful nature! I think it would be fantastic to stick with some lovely mid century design. I am definitely drooling over all of these....

Post 147: SOLD!

Sooooooooo, the house sold last night!!! My husband and I were negotiating over the phone all evening at a Super Bowl party so everyone kept up with our play by play. And after the party was over our crazy real estate agent came over around 10:15pm for us to sign papers and it is now a done deal! On March 15 Adam and I will be moving in to our dream home just in time to get it ready for our duckling!

You have no idea how excited I am.

Post 130: One Step Closer!

Soooo we have a "go" on our dream home! The nature preserve didn't have the 'funds' for it...soooooo our bathroom is being finished off this weekend and I have another meeting with the real estate agent next week about putting our house up on the market! ahhh! I am excited! I am stressed! I am nervous! And above all I am exhausted but things will NOT be slowing down for at least a few more months. I think summer 2010 calls for a LOOOONG RELAXING vacation.

Post 117: Waiting and Wishing

Soo, we are still waiting for an answer on the house. The reason for the long wait is the people who own the house (on 9 acres next to a 'nature park') have offered the land and house to be purchased by a nature preserve (owned by an attorney) at a higher price than our offer.
I honestly think this 'preserve' is bogus and will eventually be turned into a housing compound soon enough, but that is me being a pessimist. Although the house is not mine, and MAY never be I cannot help but daydream about the things I would LOVE to have for such a fantastic mid-century home. Daydreaming is always fun right? (fingers crossed)

Click images to visit the shops!

I love this, not only because it is fabulous, but it reminds me of the infamous green couch in our first apartment . :)

Thes green chairs are great *drool* as well as EVERYTHING else in this shop!

I am in love with this lamp.

I looove this and its gray! (Gray and I are having a love affair.) This shop is also chock full of fantastic mid-century modern furnature. (p.s. i love the Tabasco ad)

With the house being out in the woods this would be just perfect!
And I would like to throw this in for good measure since it is where I REALLY want to be :). Cute huh? (If you love this there are a few other states in this lovely print collect just click the image)

Now who wants to donate to my shopping fund?!? :p

Post 114:

I hate those moments you are left dangling in between two options and you have to wait and see how things go....I HATE not knowing what is next!
My husband and I are considering moving. And for some reason buying our second house has me MUCH more restless, anxious, and nervous than I was when we bought our first, 2.5 years ago.I cannot sleep, I cannot think, and I feel on edge and have a stomach full of butterflies! ugh.

(this back yard is what sold him on this 'dream home.' It goes on for several acres)

I am in love with the house we are currently considering but I will be so sad to leave our first home!
We went through a lot in the past two years (maybe more bad than good) but I feel like a traitor to leave this home behind! It was a diamond in the rough when we bought it and now that it is where I want it to be I am letting it go. I am blaming on my father. I inherited the gene where I cannot relax after a completed project....it is time for a new one. Go, go, go!
