132: Taking a break

Soooooo, my life has become entirely too hectic to keep up with blogging. With holidays, renovations, and trying to purchase this house as well as a few other unexpected surprises I do not have the time to blog! So, I will be taking a break for a few weeks and hope to be back early next year with a giveaway! Sooo dont forget about me. And I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season!

Post 130: One Step Closer!

Soooo we have a "go" on our dream home! The nature preserve didn't have the 'funds' for it...soooooo our bathroom is being finished off this weekend and I have another meeting with the real estate agent next week about putting our house up on the market! ahhh! I am excited! I am stressed! I am nervous! And above all I am exhausted but things will NOT be slowing down for at least a few more months. I think summer 2010 calls for a LOOOONG RELAXING vacation.

Post 129: Locks of LOVE.

ALSO over the weekend I cut off over 14" of my hair! Thirteen inches of which I was able to donate to Locks of Love! It is for a fantastic cause and if you have at least 10" of hair you are looking to cut off I recommend you do it!

I love my short hair!

Don't have the hair to cut? You could always make a financial contribution! Again, it really is for an absolutely fantastic cause.

Post 128: So I'm In A Gang....sorta

I spent my Thanksgiving weekend in the ICT (Wichita, KS). Where a few gang folk participated in some 'gang' activity and tagged downtown Wichita...

I joined Ms. Leanne of Folk Craft and Ms. Puff of Just Puff while they found creative ways to promote WichitaHandmade.com!

It was a great time promoting handmade goods and being silly with friends. I also had the chance to take a peek at a little art gallery and visit the lovely Keeper of the Plains on the Arkansas River.
All while being chatty and giggling like little high school girls.

Post 127: Drew Carey shouldn't be the host of anything.

I survived jury duty. All 3 hours of it...Yeah I am complaining about a measly 3 hours in which I thought I was going to die. I am not sure if boredom was to blame or having to tolerate The Price Is Right (with Drew Carey*ugh*) at 300 decibels (which made it nearly impossible to do anything else). Drew Carey shouldn't be the hose of ANYTHING. He is not funny or witty. And the only compensation I get is $15...(who knows how much that comes out to be after I pay for parking.)

(Someone loves Drew, or they had Jury Duty in Peoria County)

They managed to cram 70-something people in a room to wait and see if any of us were going to be a jury on the 2 traffic cases they had that day....2 traffic cases = 24 jurors why call all of us in? I was on Panel 86 they surely didn't need me! Then around Noon they informed us that our services weren't needed I was off the hook 'whew'.

(image from flicker)

Aaaanywho, what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?! Tomorrow evening I will be driving to Wichita, Kansas to spend Thanksgiving with the fam and to celebrate Christmas while I am there, since I will be in Virginia at that time (we schedule things in our own time and move holidays if necessary). I am SO excited to give the kiddos their gifts! They are at that fun age Eli(brother), 8 Makenzie(sister), 7 Briley(sister), 3 Aiden (nephew), 3 annnd Nate (brother), 11 months! I REALLY tried doing an entirely handmade Christmas but I didn't make it :(. I have been trying to keep my house in order in case the realtor makes a surprise stop by the house...well, enough rambling. Hope you all have a FANTASTIC Week(end)!

PS I also had 2 Etsy orders this week!! woo woo!

Post 121: Things That Will Be Hard To Live Without...

Soooo I spend too much time browsing Etsy finding the most fantastic items. It will be hard to live without them! But all of our extra pennies are going to fix the hizzouse these days.

I really shouldn't have to tell you how much I need this chart and how fantastic it truly is. This picture really says it all.... I NEED this deer head. I love it. I love it. I love it. I have been looking for something JUST like this for awhile now....sigh
I also need this antique map. Aren't these colors BEAUTIFUL! I love maps, I love globes, I love atlases and really anything that has to do with images, location, and helping me find how to get where I need to go...Maps are comforting and I am sure this stems from my unrealistic phobia of being lost.
I need these fantastic "glovely" glove molds. You really have no idea how much I love these.
Annnnd I need this quilt...but this listing is for the pattern. Sooo, I also NEED someone to make it for me because if I go after it....it will end up like every other quilt I ever started, half finished in the bottom of my closet.

And last but certainly not least...we all need some gold ol' fashioned hot nuts!

So, there you go, just a few items I had on my mind these past few days. :)

Post 120: Complaining and Carrying On

I was SUPPOSED to hear about the status of our offer on the house yesterday, but they put it off a few more days till Friday. ugh. I totally messed up my knee working on the house. It is gross swollen, walking hurts and it is making me insanely angry since it is slowing down my progress. Sooo since I am useless I thought I would take my pics for Etsy. Buuut I cannot find the cam for the life of me. I have been looking for it for a good two hours. I even went as far as looking in the bathroom cabinets for it just in case I had a moment of insanity and placed it somewhere unheard of. Soooooo between looking for the camera and letting the dog in and out one BAZILLION times I feel like my leg is about to fall off. Then Adam calls and he has to work late annnnnd I have no food in my house. shew.

Okay I feel a little better.

Post 119: We partied like it was 1999

10 years ago......we were nerds.

Leanne of Folk Craft on the left and me on the right HA!

Those were the days...I'd like to think in these past 10 years our tastes have been a bit more refined. Buuut if you take a look at our Etsy shops Folk (Leanne) and Red Planet (mine, duh) you can still clearly see our personalities hehe

Post 118: Is it seriously Friday?

This week went by entirely too fast. Every thing is soooo busy, I am not nearly as far as I hoped to be by the weekend.... and I am entirely too exhausted.
This looks like it would make for the perfect weekend, full of sunshine, sleep, and maybe a good book.
But this looks more like reality....

Buuut someones got to do it. At least I will get to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment once I am finished!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Post 117: Waiting and Wishing

Soo, we are still waiting for an answer on the house. The reason for the long wait is the people who own the house (on 9 acres next to a 'nature park') have offered the land and house to be purchased by a nature preserve (owned by an attorney) at a higher price than our offer.
I honestly think this 'preserve' is bogus and will eventually be turned into a housing compound soon enough, but that is me being a pessimist. Although the house is not mine, and MAY never be I cannot help but daydream about the things I would LOVE to have for such a fantastic mid-century home. Daydreaming is always fun right? (fingers crossed)

Click images to visit the shops!

I love this, not only because it is fabulous, but it reminds me of the infamous green couch in our first apartment . :)

Thes green chairs are great *drool* as well as EVERYTHING else in this shop!

I am in love with this lamp.

I looove this and its gray! (Gray and I are having a love affair.) This shop is also chock full of fantastic mid-century modern furnature. (p.s. i love the Tabasco ad)

With the house being out in the woods this would be just perfect!
And I would like to throw this in for good measure since it is where I REALLY want to be :). Cute huh? (If you love this there are a few other states in this lovely print collect just click the image)

Now who wants to donate to my shopping fund?!? :p

Post 116: Not enough time in a day...

I say there isnt enough time in a day...but if the days were any longer I am not sure that I could keep awake anyway!
We made an offer on a house and we are still waiting for an answer. Waiting makes me waaaay too anxious. Being anxious means I cannot think...not thinking = no blogging.

Post 114:

I hate those moments you are left dangling in between two options and you have to wait and see how things go....I HATE not knowing what is next!
My husband and I are considering moving. And for some reason buying our second house has me MUCH more restless, anxious, and nervous than I was when we bought our first, 2.5 years ago.I cannot sleep, I cannot think, and I feel on edge and have a stomach full of butterflies! ugh.

(this back yard is what sold him on this 'dream home.' It goes on for several acres)

I am in love with the house we are currently considering but I will be so sad to leave our first home!
We went through a lot in the past two years (maybe more bad than good) but I feel like a traitor to leave this home behind! It was a diamond in the rough when we bought it and now that it is where I want it to be I am letting it go. I am blaming on my father. I inherited the gene where I cannot relax after a completed project....it is time for a new one. Go, go, go!

Post 114: Man Gift.

I bought one of these and I am soooo excited for its arrival! The one I purchased will be a gift for Grandpa BUT once Christmas gets a wee bit closer I WILL be getting one for the husband (I have to wait because I can't keep gifts and I can't keep my own secrets...).

I mentioned it in a couple posts earlier but I cannot tell you how PERFECT this is for the men in my life. It is a great steampunk piece buuuut even better for all of those gear-head car/boat/engine, mans man kind of guys that you can NEVER seem to find gifts for on Etsy!

This lovely little number is actually a ceramic piece coated with metal and made to rust. Which I think is genius. Have I mentioned I am completely in love with Ms. Puff? sigh.

Post 113: Custom Order Complete!

Sooo this weekend I finished up and sent off my first custom order! I really enjoyed making this diaper bag! I think just knowing that I was making it for an actual person gave me that tingly feeling. :) I had my husband help me take a couple of pictures and lets just say he isn't much of a photographer, I was lucky to find one that didn't have a finger in it! hehe The interior is a nice bubble gum pink oil cloth that can easily be cleaned. and there are several pockets that make this perfect for Mrs. Amanda's Baby Bug!

Just a reminder that LOVE LOOOVE doing custom orders. I sit and imagine the people they are going to and take my time to make them extra, extra beautiful. Annnnd I am more than willing to work with you to reach a price that you would be happy with. Just convo me at Redplanet.etsy.com.

Post 112: Busy Busy Busy

This week is NUTS! And I just might go crazy! Buuut although things are a bit hectic I have still found the time to fall in love with a few things on Etsy... (click on images for more info!)

You really have NO idea how in love I am with this neckwarmer...(along with everything else in this shop)

I think this would be a perfect little personalized gift for my gear head husband! (made by one of my favorite ladies in the world, Puff!)

I cannot stop thinking about how much i love these screen printed fabrics...sighI could go on forever but I have a socialy retarded pup who has a class to get too! Wish me luck with the reformation! ;p

Post 111: Happy Weekend!

These ladybugs have taken over my house! When the sun comes out I feel like I live in a cloud of ladybugs. Which isn't nearly as fantastic as it sounds. While they are pretty, ladybugs are still bugs. hehe.
I caught this little pretty little lady crawling around outside. :)

Anybody have any great weekend plans? The man thinks he has found his dream home so we might entertain that idea by spending saturday at the bank....it really is an unbeliveable home, but I am hesitant.

Post 110: So We Are Adding a Bathroom...

The man and I have decided the time has come to add a bathroom to our humble home. Someone started adding one some 20 years ago, installed an exhaust fan and it never made it any further than that. Soooo what is now our awkward 7'x8' catch all room will soon be our lovely little second bath, thank goodness! I was looking for inspiration for our small space but these pictures have me daydreaming of the day we win the lottery (that we dont play)...

I am in love with this. Is it a pool? Is it a tub? Both?! Would you ever be able to leave this space?
And this bathroom looks so warm, cozy, and homey....sigh I love white, and I also love large open windows near beautiful bathtubs....which means I need to move to a more remote location... (at least my neighbors would probably think so)
I love the chandelier in the bathroom look....but looking through pics it definitely has to be done right or it just looks silly.

Well I have to get started on prepping the room for the plumber and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be toooo outrageous!
